Hostinger AI Builder is a strong-value way to get a hosted AI-built website or simple web app online in late 2026, especially for small businesses and prototypes. Skip it if you need a free plan, server-level control or a foundation for a serious SaaS product.

Pricing No free plan that publishes; Premium $2.49/mo, Unlimited $3.49/mo, Cloud Startup $7.99/mo on 48-month terms paid upfront (renew at $10.99, $16.99, $25.99/mo); AI credit top-ups from $4.99 for 500

Visit Hostinger AI Builder

Here is the short version. Hostinger AI Builder is Hostinger's single tool for building websites and web apps with AI, and in late October 2026 it is one of the cheapest ways to get a hosted, AI-generated site online: plans start at $2.49 a month on a 48-month term, with hosting, a domain for a year and email included. The catch is in the meter and the renewal. Agentic edits run on AI credits, and the price roughly quadruples when your first term ends.

Nobody at The AI Future ran a hands-on test for this review. We compared Hostinger AI Builder using Hostinger's own pricing page and help center, published hands-on tests from Website Builder Expert, HostAdvice and TechRadar, and recent user reviews, as of late October 2026. When someone else did the testing, we say who.

What is Hostinger AI Builder?

Think of Hostinger AI Builder as two editors sharing one hosting account. On August 18, 2026, Hostinger merged its drag-and-drop Website Builder and its vibe coding tool, Hostinger Horizons, into one product. You now pick a mode when you start a project:

  • Manual mode generates a site from your prompt, then hands you a drag-and-drop editor. Hostinger's help center recommends it for portfolios, blogs, company sites, landing pages and stores.
  • Agentic mode is the old Horizons experience: you chat, and the AI writes and edits code. It is aimed at web apps, dashboards, client portals and trackers, and it comes with a built-in code editor.

If you searched for "Hostinger Horizons" or "Hostinger AI website builder", this is the same thing now. HostAdvice confirmed with Hostinger support that there is no longer a separate Website Builder entry point: you click Add Website, choose AI Builder and pick a mode. Older reviews that quote Explorer, Starter or Hobbyist plans describe the previous product, as WebSEOTrends points out.

One rule worth knowing early: you can convert a manual site to agentic mode, and Hostinger says it is recreated 1:1, but you cannot go back from agentic to manual. If you are new to the idea of chatting a site into existence, our explainer on what vibe coding is covers the basics.

Key features

Start from a prompt, a file or a link

You can start from a text prompt, a PDF menu, a screenshot or the URL of an outdated site you want rebuilt, according to Hostinger's launch announcement. Website Builder Expert notes the prompt box accepts images, PDFs and HTML files (up to 10 files, 20MB total) plus voice input. There is also a template gallery if you would rather not write a prompt; the pricing table lists 140 templates for agentic mode.

Manual mode AI tools

Inside the drag-and-drop editor you get an AI Writer, AI Blog Generator, AI SEO Assistant, AI Image Generator and AI Logo Maker, per the help center. HostAdvice reports that Hostinger's FAQ says manual mode itself does not use AI credits, though individual AI actions such as image generation are worth watching if you want to stay credit-free.

Agentic mode with a native backend

This is the part that separates Hostinger from a plain website builder. Data, authentication, user accounts, file storage and app logic run on Hostinger's own infrastructure. Ask for sign-ups and the AI provisions a database and sign-in, "from passwords and one-time passcodes to Google and Apple logins," according to Hostinger. Edits happen in an environment separate from the live site, so nothing goes public until you press publish.

Agentic mode also has Integrated AI, which lets you build AI features into your own app without API keys. Hostinger says it uses "cost-efficient models" for text and Banana models for images, with text and image inputs and outputs supported (Hostinger help center).

Ecommerce, email marketing and the Connector

Stores run through Hostinger Ecommerce, which supports up to roughly 1,000 to 1,400 products and is billed separately. Website Builder Expert says you need the Unlimited or Cloud Startup plan to sell, and that the store supports 100+ payment methods, including Stripe and PayPal. Email campaigns go through Hostinger Reach. A free Hostinger Connector lets outside assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code work on the same account, per the launch post. If the agent idea is new to you, see our guide to agentic AI.

Code export

You can export your project's source code at any time and host it elsewhere. The exported code becomes a static website and "cannot be imported back" for more prompting, according to Hostinger's technical specifications. That is a useful exit door, but not a two-way street.

Hostinger AI website builder pricing

Prices below were checked on October 31, 2026 on Hostinger's AI website builder page (US prices, excluding tax). All plans are paid upfront; the monthly figure is the term total divided by the months. A Black Friday promotion was running at the time and doubled the AI credit allowance.

PlanIntro price (48 months)Paid upfrontRenews atAI credits (Black Friday)WebsitesEcommerce
Premium$2.49/mo$119.52$10.99/mo250 (500)Up to 3No
Unlimited$3.49/mo$167.52$16.99/mo500 (1,000)UnlimitedYes
Cloud Startup$7.99/mo$383.52$25.99/mo1,000 (2,000)UnlimitedYes

Every plan includes both modes, a custom domain free for one year, mailboxes free for one year, hosting and SSL, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Shorter terms cost more: Website Builder Expert lists $12.19, $18.99 and $27.99 a month when billed annually. A .com domain costs $19.99 a year after the free year, by the same source.

How AI credits work

Credits are where the documentation gets messy, so read this carefully. Hostinger's pricing table labels the plan allowance a "one-time gift". Website Builder Expert, writing after the merger, says allowances reset every month and unused credits roll over for one additional month only. Hostinger's own help center still says agentic mode needs a separate credit-based subscription such as Explorer or Starter. Check your dashboard before you plan around a number.

Two things are clearer. First, Hostinger rescaled credits so one old credit equals 50 new ones, which is why September reviews quote 5 credits on Premium and today's page says 250. Second, top-ups cost $4.99 for 500 credits or $8.99 for 1,000, per Website Builder Expert.

Worked example: what a site really costs

Take the Premium plan. You pay $119.52 today for 48 months. If you renew for another 48 months at $10.99, that is $527.52, about 4.4 times the first term. Over eight years you would spend roughly $647, or about $6.74 a month on average.

Now credits. Website Builder Expert used 12.78 credits for a full agentic store build plus edits. One Trustpilot reviewer, by contrast, said 21 tasks consumed 100 credits, close to 5 credits per task. At that rate, Premium's 250 credits cover about 50 prompts. At the top-up price of $8.99 per 1,000, each credit costs under a cent, so 100 credits is about $0.90. Light users will not notice; people who iterate heavily on a web app will.

Is there a free plan?

Not a real one. HostAdvice found that on the free trial, publishing stays locked in both modes until you buy a hosting plan, and the trial credits covered roughly one site build. TechRadar also lists "No free plan" among its reasons to avoid. So if you want a free AI website maker that publishes, this is not it; the 30-day refund window is your trial.

Performance and independent testing

The published tests are broadly positive on output quality. In a test by Website Builder Expert, agentic mode generated a complete stationery store with custom content, logo, layout and product placeholders in 16 minutes. The reviewer wrote, "I was seriously impressed with the finished result."

HostAdvice built a coffee roastery site in manual mode. Generation took about a minute, and the result had "a real hero image, working headline, and a genuine product listing with a price already in place, not placeholder text," with a working cart and quantity selector (HostAdvice). TechRadar, which tested the drag-and-drop builder, calls it "a strong yet affordable choice" and ranks it second in its list of best website builders, while noting a smaller integration library than Wix.

Ratings around the web

There is no separate rating for AI Builder on the big review sites, so these are company-wide scores. On Trustpilot, Hostinger holds 4.6 out of 5 from 73,601 reviews, with 87% five-star and 7% one-star. On Capterra it scores 4.5 from 657 reviews. Both were checked October 31, 2026.

When we filtered Trustpilot for reviews mentioning the AI builder, the tone was harsher. The positive reviews praise speed and ease: one user said the builder copied an old site and "made lots of amazing improvements that I never even asked for." The negative ones focus on credits burning fast, credits expiring and AI-first support that is slow to hand off to a human.

Where it breaks

  • Output varies. Hostinger's own docs warn that the AI "may not produce identical results for the same prompt" and can make more changes than you asked for (technical specifications). Each extra fix costs credits.
  • No server access. Agentic sites have no FTP, SFTP, SSH, file manager or cron jobs, and you cannot import code from GitHub. Domains connect only via nameservers or CNAME, not A records.
  • Complex logic needs skill. Hostinger admits monetization and authentication "are challenging to prompt" (help center), and its comparison page says you may need to "hire a developer if a complex function breaks."
  • Lapse means loss. If your plan expires, sites go offline; if it is cancelled and not renewed, Hostinger says all data is permanently deleted. Export a copy if the project matters.

Who it's for

Small businesses, freelancers and side projects that want a decent site with hosting, domain and email in one bill, and are happy to commit to a multi-year term. Manual mode suits you if you want predictable costs and visual control.

Non-developers prototyping simple web apps, such as a booking tool, a client portal or an internal tracker. Agentic mode's native backend saves you from wiring up a database and auth provider yourself.

Who should skip it? Anyone who needs a genuinely free plan, developers who want SSH or Git workflows, and founders building a serious SaaS product where code portability and backend control matter more than price. Also skip it if you hate prepaying for four years to get the headline rate.

Verdict: who should use it and who should skip it

Hostinger AI Builder is good value if you treat it as hosting with a capable AI editor attached. Independent testers got usable, specific sites in one minute (manual) to 16 minutes (agentic), the native backend is a real advantage for simple apps, and the entry price is far below Wix or Squarespace.

The trade-offs are concrete: a renewal price about 4.4 times the intro rate, credit rules that Hostinger's own pages describe inconsistently, no publishing on the free trial, and support that many users say leans too hard on its AI agent. Use it for a small business site or a prototype. Skip it if you need a free plan, server access or a platform you can grow a serious software product on. We rate it 4 out of 5.

FAQ

What is Hostinger AI Builder?

Hostinger AI Builder is Hostinger's tool for creating websites and web apps with AI. Launched in August 2026, it merges the old Website Builder and Hostinger Horizons into one product with two modes: manual (AI draft plus drag-and-drop editing) and agentic (chat-based vibe coding with a built-in backend).

How much does Hostinger AI website builder cost?

As of October 31, 2026, plans cost $2.49 (Premium), $3.49 (Unlimited) or $7.99 (Cloud Startup) a month on a 48-month term paid upfront. They renew at $10.99, $16.99 and $25.99 a month. Ecommerce needs Unlimited or Cloud Startup, and Hostinger Ecommerce is billed separately.

Is Hostinger AI Builder free?

No. You can try the builder, but independent testers found publishing is locked until you buy a hosting plan. The closest thing to a free trial is Hostinger's 30-day money-back guarantee. If you need a free plan that publishes, Wix offers one with ads.

What are Hostinger AI credits?

Credits pay for AI actions, mainly prompts in agentic mode. Plans include 250, 500 or 1,000 credits (doubled during the Black Friday offer), and top-ups cost $4.99 for 500 or $8.99 for 1,000. Hostinger rescaled credits in 2026, so one old credit equals 50 new ones.

Should I choose manual or agentic mode?

Choose manual mode for blogs, portfolios, business sites and standard stores, where you want visual control and few credit charges. Choose agentic mode for interactive projects such as booking tools, portals or dashboards. You can convert manual sites to agentic later, but not the other way round.
