Gamma is the strongest all-round AI presentation maker in late 2026, and Gamma 5 fixes much of the samey design and rigid editing users disliked. Choose it if you share decks as links or need fast first drafts; skip it, or test exports first, if your work must end up as clean PowerPoint files.

Pricing Free (400 one-time credits); Plus $9/seat/mo annual or $12 monthly; Pro $18 annual or $25 monthly; Ultra $90 annual or $100 monthly; Business $40/seat/mo (annual only); Enterprise custom.

Visit Gamma

Gamma AI is a browser-based tool that turns a prompt, notes or an uploaded file into a finished presentation, document, website or social post. On October 6, 2026, the company released Gamma 5, a rebuild with a conversational agent and a new freeform editor, according to its launch announcement. For anyone choosing an AI presentation maker this autumn, it is the version that matters.

Our take: Gamma remains the fastest way to get from an idea to a good-looking first draft. The weak spots are PowerPoint export, credit-based pricing and support. We rate it 4 out of 5.

We reviewed Gamma as it stands in late October 2026, drawing on the company's announcements, independent tests and user feedback. Nobody at The AI Future ran hands-on tests for this review. Where we report test results, they belong to the outlets named.

What is Gamma AI?

Gamma is made by Gamma Tech, Inc. It was founded in 2020 by Grant Lee, James Fox and Jon Noronha, according to Wikipedia's company history. Lee is chief executive. Noronha is chief product officer.

The product started as an AI presentation tool. It now describes itself as a visual storytelling platform covering presentations, documents, websites, social graphics and an API, according to its Gamma 3.0 announcement. Content is built from "cards" rather than fixed slides, so a deck can scroll like a web page or be exported as slides.

The company is large and profitable. Gamma says it has more than 100 million users and that over a million pieces of content are generated each day, per the Gamma 5 release. AI Magazine reported on October 19 that annual recurring revenue is above $100 million, that more than 80% of users are outside the US, and that the company has been profitable for more than two years with about 50 staff. In November 2025 Gamma raised $68 million led by Andreessen Horowitz at a $2.1 billion valuation, the Oman Observer reported.

Key features of the Gamma AI presentation maker

A planning agent that asks questions first

The headline change in Gamma 5 is the agent. It works through ideas in conversation, asks clarifying questions and keeps context, the company says. Powerdrill reports that it drafts a story and style plan and waits for approval before building. There are three effort levels: Lite, Standard and Max. Max, with deeper research, starts on the Pro plan.

Behind the scenes, Gamma combines more than 20 AI models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, plus several image generators, SiliconANGLE reported. The agent runs in a sandbox where it can research the web, generate images and check its own work. Automated checks look for text overflowing a card or awkward image crops.

A freeform editor

Earlier versions locked users into Gamma's layouts. Gamma 5 lets users switch between agent-led editing and a freeform canvas to move and arrange individual elements, according to the release. "We can give them the full power to write custom code, draw shapes and arrange elements on a canvas," Noronha told SiliconANGLE.

A wider style range

Gamma's output has long had a recognisable look. Users complained it was samey. Gamma 5 adds a much wider palette of visual styles, "from playful to dark and moody to mid-century modern," the company says. Gamma also leans towards illustrations over photorealistic AI images, which it says avoids distorted anatomy and odd lighting, per SiliconANGLE.

Connectors to company tools

About 20 connectors now pull in outside context, including Slack, Granola, Fireflies and Fathom, SiliconANGLE reported. A Slack thread or a call transcript can become a pitch deck. Connectors respect existing permissions. Gamma also works with Zapier, Make, Atlassian, ChatGPT and Claude, according to AI Magazine. That matters if you already record meetings with a tool like Otter and want the notes turned into slides.

Gamma AI PowerPoint import and export

Gamma 5 imports PowerPoint files, PDFs and infographics while keeping their design, and exports to PowerPoint, PDF and PNG, Powerdrill reports. Gamma told SiliconANGLE that its internal benchmark for import accuracy rose from about 30% early in development to over 97%. That figure has not been independently checked.

Images, websites and the API

Gamma Imagine, launched March 17, 2026, adds AI image generation for marketing collateral, social graphics, infographics and charts, Creative AI News reported. Any gamma can be published as a website. Pro and above add custom domains, analytics and API access, according to an October 2026 pricing guide. The API, launched with Gamma 3.0, lets tools such as Zapier and Make generate content automatically, the company says.

Gamma AI pricing and plans

Gamma charges per seat and meters AI use with credits. Prices below were checked in October 2026 against two independent pricing trackers, Flexprice (updated October 10) and Omid Saffari (October 1). Gamma's own pricing page shows local currency, so your price may differ, Powerdrill notes.

The free plan is a trial, not a permanent tier. Its 400 credits never refill, Flexprice reports. One AI deck costs about 40 credits, so the allowance covers roughly ten decks, according to eesel. Free exports carry Gamma branding.

Paid credits roll over up to twice the monthly allowance. Extra credits cost $6 per 1,500. When credits run out, AI generation stops, but editing, export and sharing still work, per Flexprice.

Credit use is hard to predict. Hack'celeration found a 10-slide deck used 80 to 150 credits in its tests, according to its review. Advanced image models burn credits fastest. Gamma also has a short refund window, which Kripesh Adwani put at three days, in his review.

Performance and independent testing

Most independent tests predate Gamma 5, so they describe the Gamma 3 generation. Their findings are still the best guide to speed, quality and export.

Speed. French agency Hack'celeration said a 10-slide prompt produced a full structure in two to three minutes, in a review based on several weeks of client work. A client with no design experience built a first deck in under an hour. A landing page went from presentation to published site in about five minutes. The site scored Gamma 3.9 out of 5.

Design quality. Zapier named Gamma the best AI presentation tool for "consistent visuals." Its June 2026 test found decks visually coherent, with AI images matching each theme's colours, according to Zapier. Gamma first produces an editable outline, with settings for audience, tone and aspect ratio.

Export. PowerPoint export is the most common technical complaint. The AI Picker says users report layout shifts and formatting problems, in its April 2026 review. Infobro.ai says PPTX export can lose custom fonts, drop animations and break complex layouts, in its May 2026 review. Hack'celeration waited four days for a fix to a PowerPoint export bug. Gamma's claim of 97% import accuracy in Gamma 5 suggests it knows this is a priority.

Support. Hack'celeration found support email-only, with no live chat even on paid plans, per its review. A credit question took 24 hours. Kripesh Adwani said human support needs a paid plan, in his review.

The agent. Gamma's own FAQ says the Gamma 5 agent takes longer than the classic generator, Powerdrill reports. Studio mode remains available only in the classic generator. Noronha told SiliconANGLE that some users cut deck creation from 8 to 10 hours to about 30 minutes. That is a company claim, not a measured result.

Our take: Gamma is strong at a polished first draft. It is weaker when a deck must live in PowerPoint and match a corporate template exactly.

Who it's for

Gamma suits people who present often but do not design for a living. Consultants, marketers, sales teams, educators and students are its stated audience, according to the company. It works best when the finished product is shared as a link, where Gamma's scrolling cards and analytics shine.

Students and light users can start free, but should expect to pay after about ten decks. Teams that need brand control, custom domains or API access will need Pro or above. Our list of free AI tools for students covers cheaper options.

It is a weaker fit for organisations whose decks must be edited in PowerPoint, follow a strict slide master, or be built offline. Gamma is cloud-only, Kripesh Adwani notes.

Gamma AI alternatives

  • Canva. Zapier rates it the best all-in-one presentation and design platform, per its 2026 roundup. Choose it if you also make video, print and social content and want one design tool for everything.
  • Beautiful.ai. Zapier picks it for editing and customisation. Its Pro plan costs $14.50 a month billed annually, according to Omid Saffari. Choose it if you want tighter control over slide layouts.
  • Pitch. Zapier rates it best for sales teams, per its roundup. Choose it for collaborative sales decks with a more traditional slide model.

Teams already inside Microsoft 365 should also look at Copilot in PowerPoint, covered in our Microsoft AI review.

Verdict

Gamma is the most complete AI presentation tool on the market in October 2026. Gamma 5 addresses its two biggest criticisms, samey designs and rigid editing, with wider styles and a freeform canvas. Connectors to Slack and meeting tools make it more useful for work content.

The weaknesses are real. Credits run out unpredictably. PowerPoint export has a long record of problems. Support is slow, and billing complaints dominate Trustpilot. Users who need finished decks in PowerPoint should test export on the free plan before paying.

We rate Gamma 4 out of 5. Plus at $9 a month billed annually is the sensible starting point for most individuals.
