Parakeet AI is a fast, simple call assistant with strong ratings and fair credit pricing for occasional use. Use it for interview practice and reviewing transcripts; skip it if you plan to use it secretly in real interviews, where it can cost you the job.

Pricing Free trial (10 sessions x 10 min); credit packs from about $29.50 for 3 credits; unlimited listed at €129.90/month or €519.90/year; lifetime list about $499

Here is the short version. Parakeet AI (also written ParakeetAI or parakeet-ai, and sometimes misspelled "parkeet ai") is a desktop app that listens to a live call, transcribes the other person's questions and suggests answers on your screen in a few seconds. It started as a job interview copilot and now pitches itself as a general real-time call assistant. It is a real, working product with strong ratings, but its headline use, getting fed answers during a live interview, is banned or frowned on by many employers, and that risk matters more than any feature.

Nobody at The AI Future ran a hands-on test of Parakeet AI for this review. Instead, we compared it using public product information, independent and competitor write-ups, Trustpilot and G2 ratings, and about 30 recent user reviews, all as of late October 2026. Where someone else made a claim, we say who, and we flag when that someone sells a rival product.

Our rating is 3 out of 5: fast and simple for what it does, fairly priced if you use it occasionally, but limited by latency complaints, confusing pricing and a use case that can backfire on you.

What is Parakeet AI?

Think of Parakeet AI as a pipeline with three stages: capture the audio of the call, turn it into text, then send that text plus your context (your resume, a job description) to a large language model that drafts a reply. The reply appears in a window only you are meant to see.

The company behind it is ParakeetAI, founded by Jure Sotošek, a former Microsoft software engineer who worked on Teams. In a September 2026 Indie Hackers interview, he said the product launched in 2024 as an interview assistant and has since grown into a broader AI call assistant. He also said: "We've bootstrapped ParakeetAI from zero to more than $1 million in monthly revenue in under two years", with more than 1.5 million users. Those figures are self-reported and we could not verify them independently. LockedIn AI, a competitor, names the developer as Parakeet AI d.o.o. in Croatia, while the company's Trustpilot profile lists the United States, so the legal set-up is not fully clear from public pages.

The latest version, ParakeetAI 2.0, was listed on Product Hunt on October 2, 2026, according to AIToolly, which noted that no detailed changelog was published with it.

Key features

We did not test these ourselves. The descriptions below come from the vendor's site as summarised by third parties, and from user reviews.

Live transcription and suggested answers

This is the core. Parakeet transcribes the interviewer's speech and generates an answer, using any resume or documents you upload for context, according to PracHub's review. LockedIn AI's write-up says you trigger an answer with a manual "Start Answering" click, and one Trustpilot reviewer confirms it: "I didn't find automatic recognition of the questions but need to tap button" (Trustpilot, September 2026). That is a deliberate design choice, but it means you are splitting attention between the conversation and the app.

Coding interview support

For technical rounds, Parakeet can capture a screenshot of a shared coding prompt and suggest code with an explanation. PracHub lists support for HackerRank, LeetCode and CoderPad alongside Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Toolradar's listing adds Webex, Lark and Amazon Chime to the compatibility list.

Languages, models and resume context

G2's listing says Parakeet supports 59 languages and tailors answers to your resume. Which AI models sit behind it is less clear: PracHub says the vendor site listed GPT-5, GPT-4.1 and Claude 4.0 Sonnet, while LockedIn AI describes an undisclosed model lineup with no user choice. Treat the model question as unresolved.

Call notes and transcripts

After a call you get a transcript and light notes. This is the feature we think is most defensible: one Trustpilot reviewer says they value the transcript to review their answers and adds, "I don't rely on the answers it gives me" (Trustpilot).

New "Prepare" tools in version 2.0

Toolradar's October listing describes a question bank by company, mock interviews with an AI interviewer, a resume builder and AI headshots. Earlier reviews, such as LockedIn AI's from August, said there was no question bank or mock-interview mode, so these appear to be recent additions. A Trustpilot reviewer complained in October about a 30-CV monthly cap on the paid CV generation feature.

Privacy claims

The vendor says communications are encrypted, sessions are not recorded and transcripts are deleted after sessions, per G2 and LockedIn AI. What is not published, according to LockedIn AI, is which AI providers receive your prompts or how long they keep them. PracHub notes the privacy policy covers personal, device and usage data and says no system is completely secure. You are feeding a third party live audio of someone else's voice, so check whether the other party has agreed to that.

Parakeet AI pricing and plans

Pricing is the most confusing part of Parakeet AI. Prices vary by region and some only appear after you sign in, as PracHub and LockedIn AI both note. Here is what independent pages reported, checked October 2026:

PlanPriceWhat you getSource
Free trial$010 sessions of up to 10 minutes eachPracHub
Basic creditsAbout $29.503 creditsLockedIn AI, Shadecoder
Plus creditsAbout $596 credits + 2 bonusLockedIn AI
Pro creditsAbout $88.509 credits + 6 bonusLockedIn AI
Unlimited€129.90/monthUnlimited call sessionsToolradar, checked Oct 19
Yearly€519.90/yearUnlimited call sessionsToolradar
LifetimeList about $499Unlimited; often discounted with promo codesLockedIn AI

How credits work: 0.5 credit starts a 30-minute session, an active call extends by another 0.5 credit, idle sessions do not auto-extend, and credits do not expire, according to PracHub.

What the free plan really includes

The free tier is a trial, not a plan you can live on. Ten 10-minute sessions are enough to see how fast the transcription is on your machine and connection, and to rehearse a handful of questions. They are not enough for a full interview, which typically runs 30 to 60 minutes.

A worked example

Say you have four one-hour interview practice sessions planned this month.

  • Each hour costs 1 credit (two 0.5-credit blocks), so you need 4 credits.
  • The Basic pack gives 3 credits for about $29.50, roughly $9.83 per hour. You would need two packs, about $59, or the Plus pack, which gives 8 credits for the same $59.
  • The Pro pack gives 15 credits for about $88.50, roughly $5.90 per hour.
  • The monthly unlimited plan at €129.90 only beats the Pro pack if you use more than about 22 hours a month.

Conclusion: for most job seekers, credit packs are cheaper than any subscription. Toolradar makes the same point in a different way, ranking Parakeet's entry paid plan 60th of 66 similar tools on price.

Refunds

Sources disagree. PracHub says unused or accidental purchases may qualify for a refund within seven days, and using any credit makes a purchase ineligible. Shadecoder's February article mentioned a 30-day money-back guarantee. Read the current terms at checkout before you pay.

Performance and independent testing

We could not find a published, independent, measured test of Parakeet AI's speed or answer quality. Most detailed reviews come from competitors, which is worth keeping in mind. Here is what the available evidence says.

Latency. Shadecoder, a rival tool, says "instant" usually means about 2 to 5 seconds and that performance depends on your internet speed and the question. Hyring, which sells interview proctoring, says recruiters should watch for "consistent 3-to-4-second pauses before complex answers, followed by suspiciously flawless delivery." Neither gives measurements. A Trustpilot reviewer praised the speed but noted it depends on a fast connection.

Answer quality. Reviews split here. Some users call the answers "very professional and precise" (Trustpilot), while others say answers were not precise enough even with a reference document, or "not given me extact answers" (Trustpilot). PracHub's broader point is that suggested answers can hide knowledge gaps and become hard to defend when an interviewer asks a follow-up.

Reliability. Post titles on ParakeetAI's own feedback board, which is private but whose titles show up in search, include "High latency in live interview mode", "Stopped giving answers in the middle of interview", "Issue with Parakeet Transcription Accuracy During Interview" and "Useful but Not Reliable for Coding Interviews". We could not read the posts themselves, so we cannot say how common these problems are.

Where it breaks

  • The pipeline adds delay at every stage. Audio capture, transcription and generation each take time. A 3-second gap after every hard question is noticeable on a video call.
  • Bad audio means bad answers. If the transcript mishears the question, the model answers the wrong question confidently.
  • Follow-ups. A drafted answer covers the first question. When the interviewer probes, you are on your own.
  • Mobile. It is a desktop app. One Trustpilot reviewer blamed a failed assessment on the platform not working properly on mobile.
  • "Undetectable" is a marketing claim. PracHub notes the vendor's own FAQ admits its process cannot currently be renamed in Activity Monitor or Task Manager, and detection also depends on the assessment software and monitoring rules.

The integrity problem

This is the part most reviews skip. Using a hidden AI to feed you answers in a live interview misrepresents your skills to the employer, and many employers explicitly forbid it. Google reintroduced at least one round of in-person interviews for some roles, and Amazon asks applicants to declare they will not use AI tools in interviews, according to CXO Digital Pulse. Vendors such as Hyring now sell proctoring that tracks gaze, keystrokes and mouse movement. If you are caught, you can lose the offer and the recruiter's trust. We do not recommend using Parakeet AI, or any similar tool, during a live interview unless the employer has said AI assistance is allowed.

Parakeet AI alternatives worth considering

  • A general chatbot for mock interviews: ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini in voice mode can play the interviewer, ask follow-ups and critique your answers, with no hidden overlay involved. See our list of AI tools like ChatGPT and our guide to writing better prompts.
  • Otter.ai: if what you actually need is a transcript and summary of calls where everyone has agreed to be recorded, a meeting assistant is the better fit. Read our Otter.ai review, or our Granola review for a lighter note-taker.
  • LockedIn AI: a direct competitor that markets its own interview copilot and practice tools. Its Parakeet comparison is useful for spotting differences, but it is written by a rival, so check claims on both sites.

Verdict: is Parakeet AI good?

As software, yes, mostly. It does one thing quickly and simply, it has a free trial, credits never expire and the credit packs are reasonably priced for occasional use. Ratings are strong: 4.7 out of 5 from 513 reviews on Trustpilot and 4.4 from 216 on G2.

The weaknesses are real, though. Pricing is hard to see before you sign up and is quoted in different currencies, user and feedback-board complaints point to latency and mid-call failures, the new subscription features come with caps, and the product's main selling point depends on doing something most employers prohibit. Our score: 3 out of 5. Use it to practise and review. Skip it if your plan is to have it whisper answers in a real interview.

FAQ

Is Parakeet AI good?

Parakeet AI works as advertised for live transcription and quick suggested answers, and it holds a 4.7/5 Trustpilot score from 513 reviews as of October 2026. Users report latency and occasional failures, though, and using it secretly in a real interview breaks many employers' rules. It is best used for practice.

Is Parakeet AI free?

Partly. There is a free trial of 10 sessions of up to 10 minutes each, which is enough to test speed and rehearse a few questions. Full-length calls need credits, starting at about $29.50 for 3 credits, or an unlimited plan listed at €129.90 a month.

Is Parakeet AI legit or a scam?

It is a legitimate, working product from a company founded by former Microsoft engineer Jure Sotošek, who says it has over 1.5 million users. "Legit" is not the same as "allowed", though. Many employers ban hidden AI help during interviews, and getting caught can cost you the offer.

Can interviewers detect Parakeet AI?

Sometimes. The vendor calls it undetectable, but that is a marketing claim. Recruiters watch for repeated pauses of a few seconds and scripted-sounding answers, proctoring tools track eye and mouse movement, and follow-up questions expose gaps. Some companies, including Google, now require in-person rounds.

How do Parakeet AI credits work?

Half a credit starts a 30-minute session, so one credit covers about an hour. Active calls extend automatically by another half credit, idle sessions do not, and credits do not expire. Bigger packs include bonus credits, bringing the cost down to roughly $5.90 an hour.

What users are saying

We read 32 recent Trustpilot reviews (late September to late October 2026) and the visible titles of posts on ParakeetAI's own feedback board. Most Trustpilot reviews are short and positive about speed and ease of use; the more detailed ones raise answer precision, manual question triggering and pricing. We could not read Reddit threads or the feedback-board posts themselves, so this sample is small and likely skews positive.
