Meshy AI review 2026: features, pricing, free plan and limits
Meshy AI turns text or images into textured 3D models, free with 100 credits a month. We weigh Meshy 7.1, pricing, licensing and where it breaks.

Our verdict on Meshy AI
Meshy AI is the most complete AI 3D model generator for fast blockouts, game props and 3D prints in late 2026, with a usable free tier and fair Pro pricing. Skip it if you need clean, animation-ready characters straight out of the box, because you will still finish the work in Blender.
Pricing Free (100 credits/mo); Pro $20/mo (1,000 credits); Premium $40/mo (3,000); Ultra $100/mo (8,000); Studio $70/mo + $10/seat (5,500 shared); Enterprise custom
Visit Meshy AIHere is the short version. Meshy AI is a browser-based AI 3D model generator that turns a text prompt or a reference image into a textured 3D model you can rig, animate, 3D print or drop into a game engine. It is free to start with 100 credits a month, and paid plans run from $20 to $100 a month. In late October 2026 it is one of the strongest tools in its category, but you should treat its output as a fast first draft, not a finished production asset.
Nobody on our team ran a hands-on test for this review, so you will not find invented timings or screenshots here. We reviewed Meshy using its official pricing page, documentation and release notes, published third-party analyses, video reviews and around 40 recent user reviews, all checked in late October 2026. Where someone else did the testing, we say who, and where a claim comes from Meshy itself, we flag it.

What is Meshy AI?
Meshy is a generative 3D platform. Think of it as an image generator that outputs geometry instead of pixels: you describe or show the object, a model predicts its shape, then a second pass paints textures onto the surface. The result is a mesh you can export to tools like Blender, Unreal Engine or a slicer for your 3D printer. If you searched for "meshi ai" or "ai modeling" tools, this is very likely what you were after. For background on how models like this are trained and run, see our explainer on what an AI model is.
The company has grown quickly. In July 2026 Meshy announced it had raised nearly $400 million at a $1.5 billion valuation, which it describes as the largest round to date in AI 3D. According to QbitAI, Meshy says it has passed $100 million in annual recurring revenue and more than 15 million registered users, and it placed 31st on a16z's first revenue-based ranking of consumer AI apps in October 2026, the only 3D company on that list.
The model lineup moved fast this year. Here is the quick map, based on Meshy's release notes and an independent timeline from Cinevva:
- Meshy 6 reached general availability on 18 January 2026, adding a low-poly mode for game developers and multi-colour print export.
- Meshy 6 Lite is a cheaper, faster variant for drafts, and it is what free users can download.
- Meshy 7 launched in August 2026 as an image-to-3D model tuned for matching the reference image.
- Meshy 7.1 followed on 10 September with an Ultra 4K mode focused on fine geometric detail.
All of these are hosted, closed models. There are no open weights, so you cannot run Meshy on your own GPU.
Key features
Text to 3D
You type a prompt and Meshy generates a model, then optionally textures it. Meshy's documentation prices this at 20 credits with Meshy 6 or 10 credits with Meshy 6 Lite. Independent reviewers consistently describe text to 3D as the less predictable of the two main workflows. PopularAiTools calls it the most error-prone mode because you cannot preview the result before spending credits.
Image to 3D and multiview
This is where Meshy now puts most of its effort. You upload one picture, or several views of the same object, and the model reconstructs the shape. The August 2026 multiview upgrade accepts up to four input views and can produce native 2K, 4K or 8K base colour textures. Note the fine print: multiview texture output is base colour only, with no PBR maps yet. If you need reference images first, a 2D tool such as Leonardo AI or one of our picks for the best AI image generators pairs well with this workflow.
Meshy 7.1 Ultra mode
Meshy 7.1 is the headline image to 3D AI model. Its Ultra 4K mode generates at 4096³ resolution, according to the release notes, and Ultra 2K costs 25 credits per run. Two limits matter: Ultra 4K accepts a single image only, and Ultra modes plus downloads of 7.1 models need a paid subscription.
Texturing, remeshing and rigging
AI texturing costs 10 credits, or 15 at 8K. Remeshing, auto-rigging and the free set of animation clips cost 0 credits, per Meshy's credit table. Smart Topology, which rebuilds the mesh into cleaner polygons, costs 5 or 20 credits depending on the version. That makes Meshy unusually complete: one character can go from image to rigged, animated FBX inside the same tool.
3D printing tools
Meshy has leaned into the maker market. The July 2026 Auto Split feature cuts draft Meshy 6 models into watertight, print-ready parts, with one-click export to Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and ElegooSlicer, as listed in the release notes. Several Trustpilot reviewers mention using it for miniatures and printed gifts.
Meshy 3D Agent and Meshy Edit
The Meshy 3D Agent, in public beta since 4 June 2026, is a chat-style assistant that brainstorms concepts, generates them in batches and turns your pick into a model; during the beta it is limited to Pro members and above. On 16 October Meshy added Meshy Edit, which lets you add, remove or replace one part of a model with text or reference images while leaving the rest untouched. Meshy says failed edits are refunded automatically.
Pricing and plans
Is Meshy AI free? Yes, with real limits. Here is what each plan costs on Meshy's official pricing page (checked October 2026).
| Plan | Price | Credits per month | Notable limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 | 10 Meshy 6 Lite downloads a month, 1 concurrent task, CC BY 4.0 licence |
| Pro | $20/mo | 1,000 | Private licence, commercial use, Meshy 7 downloads |
| Premium | $40/mo | 3,000 | Higher queue priority |
| Ultra | $100/mo | 8,000 | Highest limits for individuals |
| Studio | $70/mo plus $10/seat | 5,500 shared | Team workspace |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Dedicated support |
The pricing page's FAQ says new users get 20% off annual plans, but when we checked, the plan cards showed the same figures for monthly and yearly billing, so confirm the final price at checkout. Third-party trackers such as CostBench still list older credit amounts (for example 10,000 credits on Ultra), which suggests the plans changed during 2026.
What the free plan really includes
The free plan is a trial, not a workflow. Here is a worked example using Meshy's published credit costs. Your 100 monthly credits buy five Meshy 6 or Meshy 7.1 image to 3D generations at 20 credits each. Add a texture pass at generation (10 credits) and you are down to three textured models. Switch to Meshy 6 Lite at 10 credits and you get ten drafts, which matches the ten free downloads.
On Pro, the same maths gives you about 33 textured models a month (1,000 ÷ 30), or 40 Ultra 2K runs at 25 credits. Rigging and remeshing are free on top, so the real cost driver is how many times you regenerate a model before you are happy with it. Meshy's docs say failed generations are not charged and cancelled tasks are refunded, but a model that succeeds yet looks wrong still costs full price.
Licensing is the other catch. Free outputs fall under CC BY 4.0, which allows commercial use only with attribution. Paid plans give you a private licence with full commercial rights, according to Meshy's pricing documentation.
Performance and independent testing
Meshy publishes its own benchmark numbers. For Meshy 7 in single-view mode, it reports 81.0% on overall proportion, 79.7% on spatial distribution and 59.8% on surface detail, figures repeated by Cinevva. For Meshy 7.1, the release notes claim it "ranks first across every render resolution we measure." Treat these as vendor claims: the benchmark is Meshy's own and has not been independently replicated.
Even a competitor's reading is useful here. Neural4D, which sells a rival tool, notes that Meshy 7.1's lead over Rodin 2.5 on Meshy's own detail metric is only about 2 points at each resolution, and that Ultra 4K can output raw meshes of up to 80 million triangles. Its key point is fair: higher resolution is a density setting, not a topology fix. More triangles do not give you cleaner edge flow for animation.
PopularAiTools summarises Meshy's stated speeds as under 60 seconds for text to 3D and under 5 minutes from character generation to an animated FBX. Its conclusion matches what most reviewers say: "Meshy AI in 2026 is the best ideation-to-blockout tool in the category — and you'll still finish in Blender."
Where it breaks
- Topology: raw meshes are dense and messy. For animation or real-time games you will usually retopologise, either with Smart Topology or by hand.
- Characters: reviewers and users report distorted faces and extra fingers. A Reddit user quoted by PopularAiTools wrote: "Sometimes it will distort a face, or add in extra fingers…"
- Rigs on odd shapes: auto-rigging struggles with unusual or chunky proportions.
- Single-view Ultra: the most detailed mode only accepts one image, so hidden sides are guessed.
- Textures: multiview texturing is base colour only for now, so you will add roughness and normal maps yourself.
Who it's for
Meshy fits best when speed matters more than polish. Indie game developers can fill a scene with background props, 3D printing hobbyists can turn a photo into a printable figurine, and product or architecture designers can get a concept model in minutes instead of hours. E-commerce teams experimenting with 3D product views are another fit; our guide to generative AI in e-commerce covers that use case more broadly.
Who should skip it? Professional character artists who need clean, animation-ready topology from the first pass, and anyone who cannot accept attribution requirements but does not want to pay. If you need fully custom hero assets, Meshy saves time on blockouts but will not replace a modeller.
Meshy AI alternatives worth considering
- Tripo: choose it if raw speed matters most. Its P1.0 model, announced in March 2026, outputs engine-ready assets in about two seconds, according to Cinevva.
- Rodin (Hyper3D): choose it for very high-detail work and region editing. Rodin Gen-2.5, released in May 2026, offers raw, quad or smart low-poly output.
- Hunyuan3D (Tencent): choose it if you want a free AI 3D model generator to experiment with. The hosted 3.1 version offers 20 free generations a day, and older Hunyuan3D models have open weights you can run locally.
Here is a simple decision guide:
| If you need... | Pick |
|---|---|
| An all-in-one pipeline (generate, texture, rig, animate, print) | Meshy |
| The fastest drafts | Tripo |
| Maximum detail and mesh editing | Rodin |
| Free daily generations or local models | Hunyuan3D |
Verdict
Meshy AI is the most complete AI 3D generator we looked at for late 2026. Meshy 7.1 produces detailed image to 3D results, the free rigging and remeshing are generous, and the 3D printing tools are genuinely practical. The credit system is easy to reason about once you do the maths.
The limits are real, though. Output topology still needs cleanup, characters can come out distorted, the best modes and downloads sit behind a paid plan, and a minority of users report billing and cancellation problems. If you make game props, prints or concept models, start free and move to Pro at $20 once you are downloading regularly. If you need production-ready characters straight out of the box, keep your modelling skills sharp.
FAQ
Is Meshy AI free?
Yes. The free plan gives you 100 credits a month, enough for roughly five standard image to 3D generations or ten Meshy 6 Lite drafts, plus 10 Meshy 6 Lite downloads a month. Free models use a CC BY 4.0 licence, so commercial use requires attribution. Meshy 7.1 Ultra modes and Meshy 7.1 downloads need a paid plan, starting at $20 a month.
Is Meshy AI good?
For fast blockouts, props and 3D printing, yes. Meshy 7.1 leads Meshy's own detail benchmark, and most Trustpilot reviewers rate it highly. For animation-ready characters, expect to clean up topology and fix anatomy errors in Blender or another 3D tool.
Can I use Meshy AI models commercially?
Yes. Paid plans include a private licence with full commercial use. On the free plan you can still use models commercially under CC BY 4.0, as long as you credit Meshy.
What file formats does Meshy export?
Meshy exports standard 3D formats for game engines, 3D software and slicers, and the 3D Agent supports eight export formats, according to Cinevva. Print-focused exports go straight to Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and ElegooSlicer.
